This week is going to be even more crazy!  Nan is already in baking/cooking/ordering around mode.
Aunt Barb willl arrive this afternoon sometime weather permitting.
We are all so excited about the snow we received this weekend.  It just sets the mood doesn't it?
Momma and I are off to Lexington today for some last minute stuff.  I am excited to just have a little time with her alone during this crazy season.
So far the menu for Christmas Eve is looking like this:

7 Layer Salad
Green Salad
Broccoli Casserole
Baked Beans

Happy Thanksgiving!!

The movement and rambling through the house has already started on Petticoat Lane.
We are up mixing, cooking, baking and preparing for the Thanksgiving Feast.
We are Thankful for another year around the table with family and friends.
We wish all our family could be here with us and they are, at least in our hearts.
Phone calls across the country will start soon to loved ones to see how they are progressing today,
to tell them how much we love them, are blessed by them and wish we were all together.
We love you all and hope you have a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving!!

Fall Break just in time for surgery!

Wow! This week has gone by fast, Mom's surgery was Tuesday and it was a great success. The good Lord saw to it that she didn't have any pain and she was looked after by Sister in law Barb. It was Barb to the rescue, and to enjoy family time and food. Mom, Barb and I cooked Friday, WOW another meal in the kitchen of Aunt Maxine. Turkey and the works. Hunter also had a birthday party and enjoyed it greatly. Barb has gone home and Dave has returned from Okla. on business and Keith is back from Davidson, NC. Barry and I enjoyed Court Days in Flemingsburg today, short and sweet. Next weekend it will be court days in Mt. Sterling. Well it's back to the grindstone tomorrow. Thank You Jesus!

Family

My Birthday At Nannies

The 10Th was my 52Nd birthday and Mom said to make no plans because she was cooking for me (and by the looks of the table when she was complete an army also). So all of you that have sat at my mom's table before you know you missed quite a meal. Fried chicken, corn on the cob, gravy, green beans, salad, tomatoes, deviled eggs, are you hungry yet. So you see the list goes on. Dave had to work late and so did Keith, sorry about your luck boys, there is always the microwave. I had a wonderful birthday! I enjoyed spending time with my family. They are what makes my world go around. Barry even bought me flowers (2 beautiful mums).

Sharing Nannie

Maria has allowed me to blog with her about the happenings on Petticoat Lane. So as you see I am doing my practice run. Here is a picture of Nan doing what she loves best working in the kitchen. At one time or another all that know her have set at her table for a meal and not been disappointed.

With a cup of coffee in hand

I sit here on the porch swing. It's a beautiful day here on Petticoat Lane. Sun is shining through the hill tops. They say it's going to be a high of 87. Finally the middle of August and we start having summer like weather. It's been a weird summer where weather is concerned. The garden here on Petticoat Lane didn't fare so well this year.
Been a busy week this week with everyone back to work. Caroline said they only managed to lose 2 kids here the first week of school, got on the wrong bus. Then they were fortunate enough to gain a kid. She didn't speak any English other than her name, which was Kennedy. Said it took them some time to figure out which school she was suppose to be at. Not seen or heard from Keith since he started back to school this week. Busy boy he is when school starts with the Sports Med program.
Dave went back to school this week too! They had him on a rooftop at a High School in Corbin. Trying to make sure he could get those teenie boppers cooled off. hehe.
Barry had the alternator go out in his mail vehicle. Frustrating I know.
Other excitement here on Petticoat Lane is we have new neighbors. They finished with the renovations of the block house and moved in. Instead of 4 bedrooms and 1 bath, it is a 3 bedroom with 2 bath. They added central heat and air along with new windows. The Mr. & Mrs. has two little girls and two dogs.
Yesterday Caroline came by Aunt Maxine's and brought her home with her for the day. They started the day off with breakfast. My what a spread these people put on. Doesn't it seem like the best families sit around the table and know how to make the best food?? Aunt Maxine needs to get some recipes on here soon.

I think I just got a whiff of Maria fixin' breakfast. My my it sure smells good. I think I best go see, and then be off to church. Come on over and she'll feed ya I'm sure. Cooks for an army like her Nannie. Then off to church we'll be...
